Frequently Asked Questions:
What services are offered?
Tanks4U provides a convenient service to our customers by reliably delivering bottled propane gas and accessories direct to your door. Simply place an order for delivery and, in most cases, it ships within three days. We take the fuss out of bottle transport and keep you with a reliable supply all year long. Check out our online shopping cart for related services and accessories.
What am I purchasing?
Essentially you are purchasing the most convenient method of supply for all your bottled propane needs. A typical order involves nothing more than exchanging your empty bottles for full ones, assuring that you always have a reliable supply on hand. We suggest working with at least two bottles. Tanks will be picked up for exchange and new ones dropped off anywhere on your property. We will even connect a full tank to your propane appliance if you want. All of our tanks are clean, qualified, and filled to the maximum limit. (see below) We are also offering an expanding line of accessory products to help with all your propane needs. For orders of propane tanks or accessories, not currently available online, please contact us.
Who owns the tanks?
At the moment, you, the customer, retain ownership of all tanks. If you provide an empty bottle we will exchange it for a full one. We recommend a spare to assure you that you will never run out when you need it most. These are available for purchase also.
We are required to discard all tanks which are "expired". This is determined by the date code stamped into every tank on the handle. Bottles are qualified for 12 years from this date. Exceptions do occur where corrosion or damage to a qualified tank requires us to remove it from our supply. In these cases, we will gladly sell a replacement.
How do I place an order?
We can accommodate orders in person, by phone, or by email. Phone orders can be made at 781-595-2360. Email orders can be made at: order@tanks4u.com. If you have consented to having a credit card on file with us, billing will simply occur as orders are fulfilled.
How much will a tank hold?
A typical empty tank will weigh 17 to 18 pounds empty. All qualified bottles are required to have a special valve on top which limits overfilling of the tank for obvious safety reasons. If you look at any one of the retail exchange sources, you are likely to see the "20 pound" tanks specified to contain 15 pounds. Our tanks are thoroughly inspected and filled to capacity assuring you get what you pay for. For lots of propane related information go to: http://www.propane101.com/index.htm.
Are we licensed?
As a subsidiary of Massey Plumbing & Heating Company, Tanks4U is fully licensed in Massachusetts to perform gas installations and repairs. We have been doing this since 1935. This is handy when considering converting from bottled propane to piped natural gas.
